Louis L'Amour
The Beginning of Time - July 20, 2008

Louie L'Amour, the dapper Master of Ceremonies at The Coral Sands, bought a one-way ticket on the last train West in the early hours of Sunday Morning, Coming Down. He was 21 years old.

Surveying his property, as he did at sunrise every morning, L'Amour, who was deaf and going blind, fell into the pool and slipped away. Befitting the occasion, the desert skies in July tore open and wept, flooding arroyos, taking out traffic lights, and washing the ancient sands, the skies wept, wept, wept at the loss of Louie the Love.

He is survived by his pet Ruby Montana, his bitches Lola and Dusty, a dozen stray cats, and the enduring Sands. The finest Chihuahua ever to play the game or run a motel, Louie was beloved by literally thousands or perhaps even millions. His gifts were in reverse proportion to his size and, in fact, cannot even be measured. Friends gathered throughout the day to comfort Ms. Montana.

May all the Saints embrace him, choirs of angels sing upon his arrival. We know God is smiling upon our Louis -- restored to his youthful vigor and handsomeness, he is working the perimeter in the Great Beyond.

Wanted to Thank everyone once more for your efforts to get me back home. I am very happy to be here now with Billie Holiday and Gina Lola Bridgita ...I was on the run for a full 12 hours and it was 109 degrees. My feet were soaked in Salt Water because I burned all of my pads. I was very dehydrated and super hungry. I have been sleeping alot since my return.

This property "affectionately known" as Grey Gardens is finally revealed after years of being surrounded by dense foliage. This property was built for two sisters in 1937. It is a duplex with a guest house. It will be a stunning development for our Las Palmas neighborhood.

My Three Little Muttscateers in Residence at The Coral Sands

Billie Holliday, Dusty Springfield and Gina LOLA Bridgetta all absolutely love a convertible ride in the desert...Sometimes if I leave the car door open in the white trash patio/car port I note around 3p.m. they have gotten in Dinah (my VW Convertible) and starting positively willing me to the wheel to take them on an afternoon spin to Koffi for a Machiato.

8 TONS OF WHITE ROCK BEING DELIVERED TO THE SANDS

The transformation is mind blowing...8 tons of 3/4 white rock lining the perimeter of The Sands in place of grass...It looks so bright and cheery and cool...like snow...I purchased a number of Ocotillos and harvested palms that were small but already on the property...it is a major improvement.

Things are looking tidy on the lower east side of The Coral Sands...no grass...no junipers and soon new plantings and white rock. Then there is a new sign on the way and you are going to just die when you see that!!!
You'd better make your reservations.
Try to remember...April, May and Early June are my favorite months at The Coral Sands.

After removing some seven Giant Junipers we have added some new fabric covering to the Eastside entrance of The Sands...Now for the white rock and Palm Tree planting on either side of the gates...I am planting the babies the twin palms in the center of the property birthed so as not to purchase anything new.
Should look spectacular!!!

The Serious Effort of Oleander Removal to Bring In a Private Garden area....

We are very excited at The Coral Sands to be creating a new and private garden/spa area...First the Oleander Removal...the Ficus Tree removal...This is hard work! It will be soooo worth it!!

The Sands is Going White in an effort to go GREEN!

I am removing all grass at The Coral Sands and replacing it with white rock and desert plantings. This is a very labor intensive job but worthwhile, I believe.
I just painted the surrounding white block fence and trimmed up the piracantha. A spring spruce up!!!

The Twin Palms at The Coral Sands birthed two babies...

The central twin palms at The Coral Sands birthed two babies this year and I am harvesting them to be planted on the perimeter of the property where there used to be junipers...I took down 7 or 8 giant junipers and am making an effort to go Green. I am removing all grass and going to desert plantings...palm trees, palo verde trees...ocotillo...etc. It will be lovely and covered with 8 tons of white rock.
